Active Schools Week 2025

Active Schools Week 2025

This year, we held our first Active Schools Week in June. Our Active Schools committee worked hard to prepare a week of fun physical activities that everyone could enjoy.

Throughout the week all our staff and pupils were sure to dress in tracksuits and runners so that everyone could be as active as possible. A selection of activities were suggested by each class group and the committee were dedicated to making sure that all of our activities were accessible for all our pupils. Some of these activities included:

-Maths trails

-Orienteering tasks,
-Sports for All day of activities (All of the school were split into three colours – red, blue and green. This creates a great sense of comradery, inclusion and excitement between teammates. A number of races- from running to egg and spoon, to sack races to beanbag throws were held by class/age grouping. The cheers for the team members are brilliant and the excitement is palpable. There was a mothers and fathers race, a pre school race and a past pupils race to finish off the day. There is a great sense of school community. Every pupil received a medal. A bonus fun element was the Principal versus the pupils race! )
-Principal vs. students race
-Maths relay

-Introduction to Kick boxing classes – Our gymnastics coach gave the pupils a kickboxing introduction lesson

-GAA session with our local club coach

-Our Playground leaders led games at breaktime and lunch time

-Teach the class – 5th and 6th class became the teacher for the day and taught a PE lesson to the younger classes!

Our Active Schools week was hugely successful and fun for everyone!
